Where and how do I add new data?When you are logged in at the site a couple of new choices will become available to you. If you are going to add a new driver to the database (MAKE SURE HE/SHE ISN'T ALREADY INCLUDED BY USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION) you simply press the "Add a new driver" link under the "Members" header and follow the instructions. You will then have to wait until his/her profile page has been created to add more data.
To add data to a driver with a profile page you simply go to the driver's profile page. If you wish to add information like birth dates and birth place, you press the red edit button next to the driver's name.
If you wish to edit existing information about his/her race career. You go to the driver's "Career details" and press the red edit button next to the entry you wish to edit.
If you want to submit completely new data. You go to the "Submit info" page on the driver's profile page and then press "New data".
Why can't I make changes to my profile page?There are only a few trusted admins who can make changes directly to the database. All regular users' changes are saved in a temporary database and are then approved or rejected by the admins.
The data I sent weeks ago hasn't been included. Why?There may be two reasons for this:
1. There are many submissions in queue.
At the time of writing there are over 500 new entries in queue. As some of the require a bit of research it might take a while to come to your submissions in the queue.
2. The data you sent was incomplete or incomprehensible.
The data in Driver Database is divided into years and championships (or non-championship races). In order for data to be included it is important that you submit as much information as possible in order for us to understand where to put your data. Take a look at the following examples:
Correct:
2007 - Italian GT Championship - GT3
Not correct:
2007 - GT
The data from different championships must also be separated:
Correct:
2007 - Formula Ford UK - 12 races
2007 - Formula Ford Benelux - 2 races
Not correct:
2007 - Formula Ford - 14 races
What type of races are not included in the database?Driver Database is about wheel-to-wheel racing. Data from the following categories are not included:
* Anything not about auto racing (except for Karting).
* Rallying
* Hillclimb
* Auto slalom
* Rallycross
* Drag racing
* Time trials
* Show events (motorsport shows, ROC etc)
* Sim racing
Can I (or you) add things to the Career highlightsShort answer: No.
Long answer: Unfortunately not. The Career highlights available on the overview page are automatically fetched from all top three placings available in the Career details. This is off course not the best way of doing things as for example a 4th place in the World Championship would be more of a hihglight than a 3rd place in a Club championship, but the upsides are far greater than this downside. The main reason for the automatic fetching is that regularly updating over 30,000 drivers every time a championship or a race has ended is an impossible mission, made even more impossible by the fact that no one is getting paid to keep it updated.
I submitted a website, but it hasn't been added to my profile yet. Why?If you submitted a website (and your entry is not in queue) it may have been rejected for one of the following reasons:
1. The URL you submitted didn't work.
2. You didn't submit a link to YOUR website, but to your team's. Team websites will not be added to driver profiles if the team is not your own private team and it only revolves around you as a driver. In short, drivers get a free link to their own homepage -- teams need to purchase banner space.
I submitted my nickname, but it wasn't addedThe nickname / Pseudonyms field is really only for those drivers who races/raced or are/were more known by their nicknames than their real names. If it's just your mom that calls you "Tiny Billy", it won't be added.
