With over 37000 drivers now on the database getting the names right becomes crucial to ensure the correct stats is assigned to the correct driver. Quite a few drivers prior to 1960 drove under false names or shorten names and thru research have been loaded in the database with their full correct name.

Two classic cases are: "Earl Howe" the 5th Earl Of Howe is Francis Richard Henry Penn Curzon (although in some publications and on the champcarstats.com site is referred to as Edward Richard Assheton Viscount Curzon who is the son and became the 6th Earl). George Raphael Bethenod de Montbressiux of Argentina (recorded as a French driver due to always racing under that flag) raced in the States as Raph and sometimes in Europe as Georges Raph.

Several sites have errors in spelling even between qualifying and the heats so getting the details correct can be a big problem, if looking for a driver on the database and they don't appear somtimes it's a case of shortening the name down to see what pops up or varying the spelling as they may have been corrected.

Some of the American drivers who raced under a name will appear that way with the true name in () eg. Shorty (Clark) Templeman or Al (Albert) Miller (Kurlock).
